Therapeutic counsellor

“I am what time, circumstance, history, have made of me, certainly. But I am also so much more than that. So are we all”

— James Baldwin

My approach

If you find yourself in a place of uncertainty or you are faced with challenges that feel bigger than you can handle, know that you do not need to go through this on your own.

I believe that you already possess all the resources and insights you need for your own direction of development, growth and healing. I also know that sometimes it can be extremely difficult to get there.

My role is to facilitate your process in a space which encourages you to be unapologetically and authentically yourself. I am interested to understand how your experiences, thoughts and feelings have shaped your past and present and where you would like to see change.

Therapeutic work can be arduous. It can be emotionally testing but it can also remind you of just how resilient you are. You will be invited to engage relationally and consider how you express yourself through your beliefs, choices and relationships.

Ultimately, we will be focused on your goals and fostering an empathic understanding and acceptance of who you are, just as you are. I am an inclusive practitioner and I work with awareness of how neurodiversity and trauma can operate in one’s daily life.

Background

Prior to training as a therapist, I worked in various healthcare & social care settings, including a nursing home, NHS maternity wards, substance misuse & recovery service and a hostel for people who are experiencing homelessness.

My interest in therapy was formed during my English degree. I read post-colonial Caribbean literature, which fundamentally challenged my perspective on individual & collective experiences of suffering, resilience and navigating a deeply complex world.

Themes of Otherness, belonging and who we are in the midst of it all, led me to introspective work.

In-person and remote sessions

I see clients in Brighton & Hove and Eastbourne, as well as remotely for greater flexibility.
